Tooth jewellery is a new style craze, a new way to fashion up your smile. If you are a trendy person looking for an exotic way to enhance your smile, cosmetic dentistry is here for you.
While there are several other cosmetic procedures that correct, alter and enhance the appearance of your teeth, tooth gems are more about style.
They make your smile more individualistic, unique and fashionable. At Kirkland Dentistry we are receiving a growing number of requests for it.
The style-crazed citizens are totally going for it. As for you opting for them, it is entirely a personal choice!
To make it easy for you to decide, go through this overview.
What is Tooth Jewellery?
Tooth jewellery is an accessory fixed on the front face of the tooth. These are small gems or precious metal charms that can be bonded to any of your teeth.
There are many designs to pick from, and you can choose an accessory depending on your mood, or what you want to express with your smile.
You may choose your birthstone, your desired colour, or a charm that reflects your personality, hobby or profession.
They do not cause any damage to teeth. The procedure is 100 % reversible.
Does the Tooth Jewellery Stay on Forever?
The gems or charms are bonded according to your preference. On natural teeth, a semi-permanent placement will stay on until you decide to have it removed. You have to visit a professional dentist for that.
In our practice at Kirkland Premier Dentistry, we have seen them last at least six months to many years.
We do tooth jewellery at competitive prices & we are always evolving with new trends.
You can even get a real gem bonded to the surface to create your own style. The temporary placement lasts from two to six weeks or as per your option.

What is the Procedure?
Tooth gems are fixed on the face of the teeth using a bonding material. This adhesive is similar to the one used while fixing braves or composites.
Following this, the jewel is cured with UV light for curing.
Whenever you wish to remove the gem, you can visit the Kirkland dentist near you. He will remove it and polish the surface underneath while clearing the bonding material.
At Kirkland Premier Dentistry Dr Gaurav Sharma has 400+ hours of Continuing education from the prestigious AAID (American Academy of Implant Dentistry) He applies for the latest research & advances in dentistry to provide the best dental care to patients.
No drilling or local anaesthesia is involved in both procedures. It is a painless process.
Does it Feel Uneasy?
Well, the tooth jewellery is barely 0.4 mm to 0.9 mm in thickness & 1.8 mm to 3 mm in diameter.
You might take a little while to get used to it. It would feel a little different in the beginning, but then it becomes normal after a few days of application.
Do the Gems Hinder Brushing?
As far as dental hygiene is concerned, there is no issue. You are not required to change your oral brushing & flossing routine in any way.
The first day after the jewel has been applied, however, it is recommended that you do not use the electronic brush.
Can the Gems Come off Accidentally?
It is highly unlikely and we have not come across such a case in our practice. Always get tooth jewellery from professional dentistry and not non-dentists.
The tiny gems are made of non-toxic materials, are soft-edged, and are affixed using safe and strong adhesives.
Even if they come off & get swallowed(highly unlikely), they would pass out the natural way.
Can I get Scaling done Despite the Gems?
Absolutely yes. You can have your teeth professionally cleaned and it is recommended every 6 months for everyone. Your tooth jewellery will not be a hindrance in the procedure.
Is Tooth Jewellery Suitable for All?
People undergoing orthodontic treatment and children below 12 years should not apply dental jewellery. If you have to, wait till the braces are removed.
Those who have crowns or implants cannot get tooth gems affixed. They are only applied to natural teeth.
In case there are caries or other issues, address them first before going for teeth jewels.
An exceptional smile brightens your face and makes your personality attractive. If you are exploring a different approach to making your face stylish, you can consider accessories like tooth gems.
Installed by dentists, they are safe, they don’t damage the teeth in any way and are reversible.
