What is Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign treatment is a cutting-edge method of orthodontic care that involves wearing a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten your teeth. Unlike traditional braces, there are no wires or brackets involved.

Manufacturing Invisalign aligners involves the use of a patented thermoplastic known as SmartTrack®. SmartTrack is incredibly durable and free of BPA, BPS, latex, and gluten, making it an ideal orthodontic solution for patients with allergies.

Who is a good candidate for Invisalign?

The team at Kirkland Premier Dentistry typically recommends Invisalign treatment for adults and older teens with mild or moderate alignment issues. While clear aligners are a comfortable option, there are certain issues they aren’t capable of addressing.

In addition, Invisalign aligners usually aren’t recommended for children younger than 14. This is because their teeth and jaws are still growing.

What can I expect from Invisalign treatment?

If you’re a good candidate for Invisalign, the team takes an impression of your teeth and discusses your aesthetic goals for treatment. Next, the molds of your teeth are sent to a laboratory that crafts your aligners.

A week or two later, you return to Kirkland Premier Dentistry where you get your first set of aligners. Your dentist provides you with a list of care instructions, and you’re asked to wear your aligners for between 20-22 hours each day.

Every 4-6 weeks, you’ll return for a follow-up appointment, where your dentist checks on your progress and provides you with a new set of aligners.

In most cases, Invisalign aligners take about a year to produce desired results. However, you may notice slight improvements to your smile after just 2-3 months.

After you finish wearing your last set of aligners, you receive a retainer. A retainer ensures your teeth stay in place, preventing further orthodontic issues.

How do I keep my aligners clean?

Cleaning and caring for your Invisalign aligners is easy and hassle-free. Simply rinse them off with cool water before and after eating and gently brush them with your toothbrush at least once a day.
